First Summer School in Computational Oncology

April 04, 2011

You are cordially invited to participate to the First Summer School in Computational Oncology, to be held at Heraklion, Crete, Greece - June 13th-18th, 2011.

Please visit our site: http://computationaloncology.org/

This summer school will provide basic training on the new research dimension of computational oncology based on the experience offour European collaborative projects in this direction that ca-organise this event : ACGT, ContraCancrum, TUMOR, and p-medicine

The summer school is for both clinicians/medical students and engineers/basic scientists/engineering students who wish to learn the principles of computational oncology from pioneers in the field. It will cover a wide range of multidisciplinary aspects of computational oncology including both clinical and engineering/basic science viewpoints. The aim is to provide students and young researchers from various backgrounds the opportunity to gain the necessary knowledge and skills required to understand the basics of both the multiscale cancer modeling and the biomedical informatics framework that are needed in order to bring this new technology closer to the clinical setting and decision making process.

The lectures will cover the following related themes:

- Clinical perspective of in silico oncology

- Multiscale mathematical modeling of cancer and in silico oncology

- Cancer image analysis and tissue biomechanics

- Cancer Biomedical Informatics

The number of participants is restricted and candidate students/young researchers are encouraged to apply through the website at: http://computationaloncology.org/index.php/participate

On behalf of the organising committee,

Kostas Marias
