BioMedBridges: Providing research and data links between biomedical science research infrastructures

BioMedBridges aims to support the global research community by strengthening biomedical resources in Europe. In a major collaborative effort co-ordinated by ELIXIR, the project’s 21 partners from nine countries will develop the e-infrastructure providing the computational ‘data and service’ bridges between the individual biological and medical sciences research infrastructures, allowing interoperability between the biological, medical, translational and clinical domains. Launched in January 2012, the four-year initiative has been financed with €10.6 million by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme.
