Health Literacy – the importance of understandable health information

Since p-medicine has a strong focus on patient empowerment and communication between doctors and patients, we would like to raise awareness to an article published by the US Department of Health and Human Services on health literacy. Although the article has already been published in 2008, its subject remains as topical as ever.

It stresses the importance of making health information easily understandable to everybody as there is a gap between the health information currently available and the skills people have to understand and use this information to make life-altering decisions.
