Invitation to symposium about the relevance of data sharing in oncology

The INTEGRATE project (www.fp7-integrate.eu) has the pleasure to invite you to a symposium in Amsterdam on Friday September 27, 2013 about the relevance of data sharing in oncology. The Breast International Group (BIG) (www.breastinternationalgroup.org), which is the key clinical driver of the project and also leads the dissemination activities of INTEGRATE, coordinates the organization of this event.

INTEGRATE is a project funded by the European Commission, and has six European institutions from academia, industrial research as well as SMEs as partners. The project has the twofold aim of enabling sharing of data from completed clinical trials, and facilitating molecular screening of patients for selecting them for future biomarker-driven clinical trials. This involves tackling several difficult issues like aggregating multiple types of data (clinical, images, genomic, sequencing, etc.), harmonization of data, semantic interoperability, linkages with EHRs and clinical trials databases, security and credentialing issues, exploitation of the data using model building, ethical and legal issues, etc. We believe that solving these issues is imperative if science and clinical research is to move to the next level. The symposium will offer a forum for all interested stakeholders to hear from world leaders in this field and an opportunity to discuss and debate crucial issues with them.

The symposium will take place in September during the 2013 European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress, hosted in Amsterdam. Over the years, this congress has become the reference oncology meeting in Europe and beyond, providing practice-changing, high-quality multidisciplinary presentations, thus representing a unique opportunity to present INTEGRATE and its solutions to a wide range of potential end-users.
