p-medicine will hold a special session at the 35th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society in Osaka, Japan (July 3-7, 2013)

May 03, 2013

A special session with the title “Computational Solutions to Large-Scale Data Management and Analysis in Translational, Personalized and Predictive Medicine” is organised by Prof. Norbert Graf, coordinator of the p-medicine project, within the scope of the EMBC ‘13 in Osaka, Japan.

The Special Session will be based on experiences as well as technological and scientific developments stemming from some flagship projects funded by the EU under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) aiming to bring together researchers working in the fields of infrastructures and technologies for integrative biomedical research, ICT for predictive and translational medicine and the VPH at large.

The Special Session features several talks by p-medicine partners:
Introduction to the topic and the Oncosimulator - Norbert Graf (USAAR), Georgios Stamatakos (ICCS)
Legal frameworks for data sharing from a European data protection perspective - Nikolaus Forgo, Magdalena Góralczyk (both LUH)
Employing novel imaging modalities in developing modeling tools for enabling personalized cancer prediction and treatment response - Vangelis Sakkalis (FORTH)
EURECA and INTEGRATE: two European projects focused on semantic interoperability and information sharing in medicine - Anca Bucur (Philips)
Trial Outline Builder (TOB) for visualizing clinical trials from data entry, patient follow-up to trial analysis - Yuzuru Tanaka, Jonas Sjøberg (both UHok)

The session is scheduled for July 5, 2013 and is directed at researchers dealing with all aspects of Cancer Informatics that support the vision of predictive and personalised medicine in the domain of cancer.
