National University Corporation Hokkaido University
Brief description and aims of work
Meme Media Laboratory of Hokkaido University was established in 1995 for the advanced research on multimedia and knowledge media technologies that will form the infrastructure for the worldwide knowledge distribution and reorganization, as fundamental facilities are needed for future industry, and especially for the seeding of venture businesses. Since then, the laboratory has developed 2D and 3D representation meme media systems, i.e., the knowledge media systems that enable users to reedit not only the layout design but also the functional composition structure of media objects, and has applied them to the interactive ad hoc federation of Web resources and information visualization of both database and Web resources.
Meme Media Laboratory was involved in EU FP6 Integrated Project ACGT as one of the 26 members to develop an interactive visual interface based on meme media technologies for the clinical trial design, patient data acquisition, and querying trial data for statistical analysis and visualization. The Laboratory is also currently involved in EU FP7 Best Practice Network Project on Digital Library ASSETS.
The main role of UHok is to extend the Trial Outline Builder (TOB) developed in ACGT Project for its interoperation with analysis and visualization tools for patient specific genomic data.
